BANGKOK -- Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn endorsed Anutin Charnvirakul as the country's new prime minister on Sunday, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives Arpath Sukhanunth announced.
In a ceremony held at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Arpath read out the royal command appointing Anutin as premier, as he received majority support in the parliamentary vote on Friday. (Thailand-PM)

KATHMANDU -- A tiger killed an elderly man in Nepal's Bara district on Sunday morning, taking the death toll from tiger attacks in the area to four in the past two months, local police said.

KABUL -- The first batch of emergency earthquake relief supplies provided by the Chinese government to Afghanistan arrived in Kabul on Sunday.
