VLADIVOSTOK, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Assessment work is already underway on four high-speed railway (HSR) projects in Russia following the development of the Moscow-St. Petersburg line, local media reported on Monday.

"Preliminary assessment work is already underway," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Transport Vitaly Savelyev, adding that he will report on the parameters of the next four HSR projects in March next year, and that many aspects "are already clear."

The Moscow-St. Petersburg HSR line is the first of five major projects approved by President Vladimir Putin. Other planned routes include Moscow-Minsk, Moscow-Yekaterinburg via Kazan, Moscow-Adler, and Moscow-Ryazan.

According to Russian Railways, the total length of Russia's HSR network is expected to exceed 4,500 km by 2045, with up to 300 trains operating across the system. The Moscow-Yekaterinburg line is set to be the second project implemented, followed by Moscow-Adler, Moscow-Minsk and Moscow-Ryazan.
