NAIROBI, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- A "red moon" was visible across many parts of Africa during a total lunar eclipse that began on Sunday night.

Eclipse happens when the moon, Earth and the sun are lined up and on the same plane -- allowing for the moon to pass through Earth's shadow.
