HANOI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam posted a trade surplus of 13.99 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of this year, according to the National Statistics Office on Saturday.
The country's total import-export turnover reached 597.93 billion U.S. dollars during the period, up 16.3 percent year-on-year.
Exports rose 14.8 percent while imports climbed 17.9 percent, said the report.
Seven key commodities each earned more than 10 billion U.S. dollars in export value, including electronics, computers and components, telephones, textiles, garments, footwear, vehicles and parts, and timber products. ■
