NEW DELHI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The police in India's financial capital, Mumbai, are on high alert after receiving a WhatsApp message threatening dozens of blasts across the city, the police said Friday.
The threat message received on Thursday claimed that human bombs had been planted in 34 vehicles, and it would shake the entire city. The sender of the message further claimed that 14 terrorists had entered the city and planted 400 kg of RDX in vehicles for blasts.
Senior police official Anil Dashrathrao Kumbhare told the media the threat is being investigated.
The city is currently celebrating the 10-day-long Hindu festival Anant Chaturdashi, and its culmination is scheduled on Saturday, which will witness the ritual of immersion of idols.
The police have already made security arrangements for millions of devotees who would come out on the streets for the immersion ritual. ■
