JERUSALEM, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army struck a high-rise building in Gaza City on Friday, saying it was used by Hamas to launch attacks, a claim denied by the building's management.

"Within the building, Hamas established infrastructure that was used to advance and execute attacks against IDF troops in the area," the statement read, adding that its underground infrastructure was also used as an escape route, said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement.

The Israeli army said they had issued warnings for civilians before the strike.

The management of the Mushtaha Tower in Gaza City denied the Israeli claims, saying the building was only accessible to displaced people.

The IDF said in an earlier statement that it would strike structures that have been converted into "terrorist" infrastructure in Gaza City in the coming days, including cameras, observation command centers, sniper and anti-tank firing positions, and command-and-control compounds.

Also on Friday, Hamas released a video showing two Israeli hostages, Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Alon Ohel, among the roughly 20 hostages believed to still be alive in Gaza. In the footage, Dalal said he was being held in Gaza City.

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel's military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 64,000 people and wounded over 161,000, according to the latest updates by Gaza's health authorities on Thursday.
