BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 14th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC) will take place from Sept. 11 to 12 in Beijing, focusing on digital IP innovations, the event's organizer said on Friday.
Themed "IP in the Digital Age," the two-day conference will have 30-plus events for global innovators, scholars and IP service providers.
It will bring together more than 160 guests from home and abroad and 8,000 participants to engage in discussions on topics including AI, biomedicines, integrated circuits, the private economy, global expansion of enterprises and foreign-related IP protection.
Inaugurated in 2010, the annual CIPAC is organized by the Intellectual Property Publishing House Co., Ltd., under the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the country's top IP regulator.
This year's event will also be attended by various international organizations and governmental entities, including the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the Eurasian Patent Organization.
In addition, IP officials from the embassies and consulates of countries, including Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and Peru, along with representatives from thousands of companies worldwide, such as Huawei, Qualcomm, Hyundai and Xiaomi, are also expected to participate in the conference, according to the organizer.
Liu Chao, head of the publishing house, noted that the State Council has released a set of guidelines on advancing the "AI Plus" initiative, which calls for stronger IP protection, commercialization and joint deployment of AI technologies.
"Following this guidance, the CIPAC will this year host special sessions focused on AI, featuring two high-level forums and inviting over 10 experts from leading technology companies and renowned research institutions to discuss topics such as patent protection of AI-generated content, algorithm governance, and IP strategies for AI companies," Liu said.
He also noted that this year's IP conference will offer attendees an immersive experience powered by digital technologies. A dedicated area hosted by well-known AI companies will showcase more than 20 digital technology innovations, spanning everything from fundamental algorithms to industrial applications. ■
