ADDIS ABABA -- The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has warned that cholera remains the leading public health concern in Africa in terms of the number of cases and fatalities.

Some 23 cholera-affected African countries have reported a total of 239,754 cases and over 5,274 associated deaths since the beginning of this year, with a case fatality rate of 2.2 percent, Yap Boum II, deputy incident manager for mpox at the Africa CDC, told an online media briefing on Thursday evening. MUNICH -- German automaker BMW unveiled the iX3, the first model of its Neue Klasse line-up, in Munich on Thursday. The company said the vehicle was developed with Chinese technology partners in areas including batteries, artificial intelligence and autonomous driving.

The iX3, scheduled for production in 2026, marks the start of BMW's plan to launch more than 40 new or updated models worldwide by 2027. BMW's Shenyang plant in northeast China's Liaoning Province, its largest production site outside Germany, also presented a version of the iX3 tailored for Chinese consumers. (BMW-China-EV)

MOSCOW -- The second round of talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump may take place in the near future, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
