BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Global Governance Initiative (GGI), proposed Monday by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus" Meeting, has received vast support from leaders worldwide.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the "SCO Plus" Meeting that his country supports the initiative and is interested in moving to a concrete discussion of the proposals, TASS reported.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the initiative, saying it is "anchored in multilateralism" and "underscores the importance of safeguarding the international system with the UN at its core and the international order underpinned by international law," according to UN News.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel wrote on X that he believes the initiative will contribute to the reform of the global governance system and help build a community with a shared future for humanity.

The initiative will make global governance more responsive to the needs of developing countries, according to Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Nicaragua's government issued a statement Monday voicing support for the initiative, a position later reaffirmed by the country's national parliament. In a Facebook post, the legislature said the initiative would make a tremendous contribution to addressing humanity's challenges through multilateralism, peace, justice and respect for the sovereignty of the people.
Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said at "SCO Plus" Meeting that the GGI would help strengthen the multilateral system by making it more just, inclusive and equitable for a community with a shared future for mankind, the Kathmandu Post reported.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed an official document to join the initiative, expressing the hope that it would contribute to world peace, state-run news agency AVN reported on Facebook.
