ABUJA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- More than 15 suspected terrorists were killed in recent precision airstrikes by the Nigerian military on a newly identified hideout in Borno, a state in the country's violence-hit northeast region, an official said Thursday.
Ehimen Ejodame, the spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, told reporters in Abuja, the capital, that the airstrikes Wednesday targeted Zuwa, a terrorist hideout in the Sambisa General Area of Borno.
The air raids followed credible intelligence and confirmatory surveillance that revealed "the enclave was harboring fighters and commanders behind recent attacks," he said.
Key structures were destroyed, as the suspected terrorists suffered significant losses, Ejodame said. ■
