DHAKA, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Bangladeshis living and working abroad remitted back 4,900 million U.S. dollars in the July-August period, central bank data showed.
According to the data, remittance, one of key sources of foreign exchange for the impoverished nation, increased 8.90 percent year-on-year to 2.42 billion dollars in August.
Bangladeshis remitted home nearly 2.5 billion dollars in July.
Bangladesh remittances hit an all-time high of over 30 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2024-25.
Remittance mainly comes from Middle East countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. ■
