ISLAMABAD, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's headline inflation eased to 3 percent in August, down from 4.1 percent in July, official data showed on Monday.
On a month-on-month basis, CPI decreased 0.6 percent in August, compared to a 2.9 percent increase in July, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Urban inflation rose 3.4 percent year-on-year in August, down from 4.4 percent in July and 11.7 percent a year earlier. Rural inflation increased 2.4 percent on an annual basis, easing from 3.5 percent the previous month.
Officials attributed the decline to improved food supplies, stable energy prices and tighter monetary policy measures. ■
