BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted 99 km southeast of Lata, Solomon Islands, at 2009 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 51.9 km, was initially determined to be at 11.46 degrees south latitude and 166.32 degrees east longitude. ■
