BEIRUT, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed on Friday in an Israeli airstrike on a village in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese media.
An Israeli drone carried out a missile strike targeting a car at the village of Sir el Gharbiyeh near the Al-Salam station, killing one person, the National News Agency reported.
Meanwhile, local news agency Akhbar Al Yawm said that the man killed was Ahmad Naim Maatouq, indicating that he was a Hezbollah member.
Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, brokered by the United States and France, has been in effect, aiming to end more than a year of cross-border clashes.
Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally conducts strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are aimed at eliminating "Hezbollah threats." ■
