JAKARTA, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Ministry of Environment has called on private firms and state-owned enterprises to expand participation in the country's carbon exchange scheme.
"Indonesia has a huge opportunity to utilize these instruments. Beyond their economic value, they also provide environmental benefits for the country," said Noer Adi Wardojo, expert staff for biodiversity and socio-cultural resources conservation at the ministry, at the 2025 Green Summit in Jakarta on Thursday.
Launched in September 2023, Indonesia's carbon exchange platform, the IDX Carbon platform, facilitates the sale of carbon credits by renewable energy companies to emission-heavy industries such as coal producers.
As of Aug. 22 this year, transactions on IDX Carbon totaled 78.37 billion rupiah (about 4.78 million U.S. dollars). ■
