HANOI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Two adults died and two children were found unconscious from suspected suffocation caused by an electric generator in Vietnam's central Ha Tinh province on Thursday, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Local residents found the family members inside their noodle shop, which smelled of carbon monoxide. A generator was found at the scene, according to the report.
Power outages triggered by Typhoon Kajiki in recent days have forced many local households to use generators. On Tuesday, two residents in another commune of Ha Tinh were sent to the hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning while using a generator.
Local authorities have warned that improper use of generators can cause poisoning, coma, or even death and advised families to place them in well-ventilated areas. ■
