SUVA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Eight Fijian students were awarded the 2025/2026 Chinese Government Scholarship on Wednesday by the Chinese Embassy in Fiji.
The recipients will study at several universities in China, covering a wide range of domains, including clinical medicine, international finance, software engineering, and Chinese language.
While addressing the award ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian extended congratulations to the scholarship recipients.
Zhou said he hoped they would not only dive deep into Chinese culture but also share the unique beauty of Fijian culture with others, weaving closer ties between the two peoples.
Rorovanua Apenisa, a winner of the scholarship and incoming student of Jinzhou Medical University in northeast China's Liaoning Province, said that the scholarship "will open doors to world-class learning, global networks, and new cultural experiences that will make them to be better professionals and citizens."
"My experience studying in China has shaped who I am and enabled me to serve my own country," Ashish Prasad, a previous recipient of the scholarship, told Xinhua.
Prasad graduated from Anhui Agricultural University in 2019, and now works for the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways. ■
