Land values of Sri Lanka's Colombo rise 11.4 pct in H1

COLOMBO, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Land Valuation Indicator (LVI) compiled for Colombo District increased by 11.4 percent during the first half of 2025, compared to the same period of 2024, Sri Lanka's central bank said on Wednesday.

All sub-indicators of the LVI, namely, residential, commercial and industrial LVIs contributed to the increase, recording considerable annual increases of 14.4 percent, 11.5 percent and 8.4 percent, respectively, the central bank said in a press release.

The residential LVI recorded the highest increase, followed by commercial LVI, the central bank said.

Colombo is one of the most populous districts in the country and is the commercial hub of the country.
