SOFIA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian authorities have seized 49.3 kilograms of marijuana concealed within a shipment of solar panels at the Black Sea port of Varna, the National Customs Agency (NCA) said on Wednesday.
The drugs were discovered in a shipping container that had arrived from Montreal, Canada. The NCA said its Drug Enforcement Department selected the container for a thorough inspection following a risk analysis.
During the check, officials focused on a consignment of 18 used solar panels. They discovered that 12 of the panels had been glued together in pairs, creating hidden cavities. Inside, they found 105 vacuum-sealed packages containing the marijuana.
An investigation into the seizure is ongoing, the agency said. ■
