BISHKEK, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has decided to keep its key interest rate at 9.25 percent, the bank's press service said Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the year, cumulative inflation in Kyrgyzstan has reached 5 percent, while annual inflation stood at 9.4 percent. The bank noted that inflation dynamics are influenced by external factors, higher seasonal demand for certain food products, as well as the annual revision of electricity tariffs.
The regulator added that the country continues to demonstrate high economic growth, supported by expanding investment and consumer activity. Elevated consumer demand is driven by rising household incomes, stronger inflows of remittances and growth in consumer lending. At the same time, the domestic foreign exchange market remains stable.
The bank stressed that keeping the key rate at 9.25 percent will help maintain price stability and ensure macroeconomic stability in the country. ■
