VILNIUS, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), Nemunas Dawn, the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LFGU) and the Christian Families Alliance signed an agreement on Monday to form a new ruling coalition, the Baltic News Service (BNS) reported.

The new alliance will have 82 seats in the 141-member parliament. The LSDP will hold the largest share with 52 lawmakers, Nemunas Dawn will have 19, while the LFGU and the Christian Families Alliance will contribute 11.

In the agreement, the parties commit the coalition to support Social Democrat Inga Ruginiene as prime minister and Juozas Olekas, also a Social Democrat, as parliamentary speaker. Nemunas Dawn is expected to nominate the first deputy speaker.

The coalition was formed after Social Democrat Gintautas Paluckas resigned as prime minister. Lawmakers are set to vote on Tuesday on Ruginiene's nomination to lead the government.
