NEW DELHI, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least four people died and a few went missing in different incidents of cloudburst and flash floods across the Doda region in Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, confirmed the local officials.
The major affected areas were Gandoh, Thathri and Ramban, they said, and added that the incidents of cloudburst and flash floods led to landslides in several places, resulting in human deaths.
"Flash flood hit the Gandoh area this morning, resulting in one death. The incident occurred in an uninhabited area, hence the loss of human lives or property was minimal," a cop told Xinhua over phone.
A district-level official in Gandoh also confirmed that rain-related incidents were reported from Tanta and Thathri areas in Doda region resulting in three human deaths.
According to media reports, around 10 houses were either partially or completely damaged, and several roads were swept away in the Doda region. Teams of local disaster management authority had reached the affected places, and were trying to find the missing persons. ■
