ISLAMABAD, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- At least three soldiers were killed and 17 others injured in a terrorist attack on a paramilitary fort in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, police sources said.
Militants attacked the Federal Constabulary fort in Hangu district of the province, prompting security forces to retaliate and force the attackers to flee, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, according to the sources.
Following the assault, police gunned down one of the terrorists' facilitators during an encounter after he opened fire on the security forces, the sources said, adding that a search operation is underway in the area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. ■
