TRIPOLI, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) Masoud Suleman has issued a package of measures aimed at raising production, the corporation said Monday in a statement.
During a Sunday meeting of the NOC General Administration Committee at the NOC's headquarters in the capital Tripoli, Suleman emphasized the importance of establishing alternative and compensatory solutions during maintenance and overhauls, whether partial or full.
He also pointed to the need for a clear and precise gas production strategy with well-defined priorities, in addition to supporting seismic survey projects and granting special attention to inspection, measurement, safety, and environmental protection initiatives.
The NOC chairman also underlined the necessity of accelerating digital transformation to help achieve institutional integration.
Libya is one of Africa's largest oil producers and a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. However, the country's oil production has been repeatedly disrupted by internal conflicts and political turmoil since the fall of late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. ■
