The 24 solar terms, consisting of 12 major solar terms and 12 minor solar terms, were created thousands of years ago by the ancient Chinese to guide agricultural production.
Today, the culture behind the terms provides useful guidance to people's lives as each term features special food, cultural ceremonies and healthy living tips.
"Chushu," which means the end of heat in Chinese, is the 14th of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar. It is the second solar term in autumn, falling on Aug. 23 this year. A Chinese proverb goes, "After autumn rain, the weather gets colder." During the season, the temperature starts to drop and harvest time comes.
End of Heat is a good time to calm down with the joy of life. A good season for outdoor sports is coming.
