PHNOM PENH/BANGKOK -- Chiefs of Cambodian and Thai military regions on Friday reaffirmed their strong commitments to implementing a ceasefire reached by both countries recently, the Cambodian Defense Ministry said in a press release.

The reaffirmation was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodia's fifth Military Region and Thailand's first Military Region in Thailand's Sa Kaeo province, the press release said. (Cambodia-Thailand-Ceasefire)

COLOMBO -- Former Sri Lankan president Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested on Friday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over alleged misuse of state funds, state media reported.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's criminal court on Friday acquitted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on royal defamation charges over his remarks to foreign media a decade ago.

ISLAMABAD -- At least 24 people lost their lives and 15 others sustained injuries in rain-triggered incidents across Pakistan in the past 24 hours, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said Thursday.

The highest number of casualties was reported in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where 21 people died, including 14 children. Southern Sindh province recorded two fatalities, while one death was reported in the Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. (Pakistan-Rain)
