KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's manufacturing industry capacity utilization operated at an 82.5 percent rate in the second quarter of 2025, official data showed Friday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the utilization rate increased by 0.4 percentage points compared to 82.1 percent in the same quarter of the preceding year.
In this quarter, all sub-sectors posted capacity utilization above 80 percent, with the highest rate recorded by the non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products at 83.5 percent, increased by 1.2 percentage points.
This was followed by the increased 2.8 percentage points in the food, beverages and tobacco sub-sector with a rate of 83.3 percent.
In comparison with the previous quarter, the capacity utilization of the manufacturing industry rose by 0.7 percentage points.
The utilization rate was in line with the performance of the industrial production index of the manufacturing sector, which increased 0.4 percent quarter-on-quarter during this quarter. ■
