HANOI, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam on Thursday night held its first joint rehearsal for a grand military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the National Day, with nearly 16,000 officers and soldiers marching in the capital Hanoi, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The parade featured marching formations from the army, police forces, militia, and mass organizations, showcasing a broad range of specialized units such as electronic warfare troops, cyber operations forces, peacekeepers, and women's military units, the report said.
This rehearsal also featured three foreign military contingents, including the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Lao People's Army, and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, according to the report.
The official parade is scheduled to take place on Sept. 2 at Ba Dinh Square in the capital Hanoi. ■
