SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Price for goods and service among South Korean suppliers rose for the second straight month due to higher price for farm goods and oil products, central bank data showed Thursday.
The producer price index (PPI) advanced 0.4 percent in July from a month earlier after inching up 0.1 percent in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
Price for agricultural, livestock and fishery products among suppliers jumped 5.6 percent in July, faster than an increase of 0.6 percent in June on the back of higher price for agricultural products.
Producer price for industrial products, including oil products, added 0.2 percent in July on a monthly basis.
Price for coal and oil products mounted 2.2 percent in July after going up 1.4 percent in the previous month, while price for electronic and optical devices swelled in single digits.
Price for electricity, natural gas and tap water slumped 1.1 percent in July from a month earlier, keeping a downward trend for the third successive month.
Service price was up 0.4 percent owing to higher expense for transport, the eatery and lodging, and finance and insurance services. ■
