Trump, Zelensky, European leaders hold multilateral talks at White House
U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and seven European leaders held multilateral talks at the White House on Monday.
In a speech to the media, Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to accept security guarantees for Ukraine, one of the key points that "we need to consider," adding that Putin wants to find an answer.
Zelensky stressed the importance of the United States giving a strong signal on security, noting that Ukraine would be happy if Trump could attend a possible trilateral meeting with him and Putin.
Israel receives Hamas' response on Gaza ceasefire proposal, no formal reply made
An anonymous Israeli official told Xinhua on Monday that Israel has received Hamas' response to a Gaza ceasefire proposal, which includes provisions on the release of hostages, but a formal reply to the response has not yet been issued.
According to Palestinian sources, the proposal stipulates a prisoner exchange deal that includes the release of 10 living Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of 140 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 60 others serving sentences of more than 15 years.
The proposal also includes the entry of urgent humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip immediately after the agreement enters into force, including fuel, water, and electricity, as well as the rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and the provision of rescue teams with the necessary equipment to remove rubble.
At least 9 killed, 40 injured in Russian strike on Ukraine
At least nine people were killed and 40 injured in Russian strikes on Ukraine's cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian authorities said Monday.
In Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, a Shahed combat drone hit a high residential building in the city's Industrial District, killing six people and injuring 20 others, Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote on Telegram.
Over 20 killed, 6 injured in floods in NW Pakistan
Over 20 people were killed and six others injured Monday after a cloudburst struck a village in Swabi district of northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a local official told Xinhua.
Deputy Commissioner of Swabi Nasrullah Khan said that the cloudburst hit Glori village, destroying at least 15 houses.
"A number of people were buried under the debris or swept away by the torrent. So far, over 20 bodies have been recovered," the official said.■
