NEW YORK, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 34.3 points, or 0.08 percent, to 44,911.82. The S&P 500 sank 0.65 points, or 0.01 percent, to 6,449.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 6.797 points, or 0.03 percent, to 21,629.774.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with real estate and communication services leading the laggards by losing 0.95 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, industrials and consumer discretionary led the gainers by adding 0.4 percent and 0.38 percent, respectively. ■
