India's forex reserves rise to 693 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange reserves rose 4.747 billion U.S. dollars to 693.618 billion dollars during the week ending on Aug. 8, according to the central bank.

Foreign currency assets rose 2.372 billion dollars to 583.979 billion dollars, gold reserves increase 2.162 billion dollars to 86.160 billion dollars, and special drawing rights went up 169 million dollars to 18.741 billion dollars.

India's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund increased 45 million dollars to 4.739 billion dollars.
