KABUL, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have inaugurated an international hospital in western Afghanistan's Herat province to deliver advanced healthcare services, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported on Friday.
"The operations of this hospital will enhance healthcare services, generate employment opportunities, and significantly reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad," said Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Afghan interim government, during the inauguration ceremony.
Dr. Farid Ahmad Eijaz, the general director of the hospital, said that the hospital, equipped with the most advanced medical technology, aims to provide high-quality services and treat hundreds of patients daily, according to the report.
The Afghan interim government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the healthcare system by expanding medical facilities and improving access to healthcare services nationwide. ■
