Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.83 percent to 3,696.77 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.6 percent higher at 11,634.67 points. ■
