PYONGYANG, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has never removed loudspeakers installed along the border with South Korea and is not willing to remove them, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Thursday, citing a senior official's statement.

The statement, titled "Hope of Seoul Is Nothing but a Foolish Dream," was made by Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The statement criticized Seoul for spreading misleading public narratives claiming that DPRK has removed the loudspeakers installed on the southern border area, and creating a public opinion that the DPRK and South Korea relations are being "restored."

Whether Seoul withdraws its loudspeakers or not, stops broadcasting or not, postpones its military exercises or not, and downscales them or not, the DPRK does not care and is not interested, said the statement.

Seoul's policy towards the DPRK remains unchanged and can never change, and the U.S.-S. Korea's joint military drills, scheduled to start on Monday, will undoubtedly shed light on the hostile nature of South Korea again, said the statement.

It also dismissed recent South Korean media speculation that the DPRK might convey its thoughts to the United States at the upcoming Trump-Putin summit, which is typical proof that Seoul "is having a false dream."

The DPRK has nothing to do with the United States, the statement added.
