NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Multiple people have been injured following an explosion on Monday at U.S. Steel's Clairton Coke Works in the state of Pennsylvania.
A rescue operation is underway for people trapped under rubble following the explosion, local media reported, quoting county officials.
It is not yet clear how many people are trapped from the blast.
In a post on social media platform X, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said his administration is in touch with local officials as they respond to the explosion.
Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis released a statement saying that the state is providing whatever resources and manpower are needed to help with the emergency response. ■
