AMMAN, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee held a meeting on Tuesday in Amman, co-chaired by Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, aiming to boost bilateral cooperation.

At the meeting, the sides agreed to enhance collaboration across key sectors including energy, electrical interconnection, investment, industry, tourism, and transport, according to a statement by the Prime Ministry of Jordan.

Hassan described the Jordanian-Egyptian relationship as a model for Arab cooperation, highlighting steady growth in bilateral trade and Jordanian investments in Egypt. He expressed hope to expand collaboration in tourism and transport, and to activate trilateral cooperation with Iraq.

On regional issues, they emphasized the need to end the Israeli war on Gaza, facilitate humanitarian aid, oppose starvation policies, and reject provocative actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Madbouly reaffirmed their joint rejection of any demographic or territorial changes in Gaza or the West Bank.

Regarding Syria, Hassan affirmed Jordan's full support for Syria's interim government to achieve security, stability and prosperity, and to cooperate in overcoming the country's major challenges.

The meeting concluded with the signing of nine agreements covering scientific cooperation, free zones, consumer protection, cultural heritage, fiscal affairs, youth, religious endowments, and government procurement.

Since its inception in 1985, the committee has met regularly to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
