KHARTOUM -- Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed more than 40 civilians and wounded dozens in an attack on a displacement camp in the North Darfur city of El Fasher on Monday, local activist groups said.

The assault on the Abu Shouk camp included shelling and the execution of people in their homes, the El Fasher Resistance Committees, an anti-war activist group, said in a statement. TEHRAN -- A senior official from the UN nuclear watchdog held talks in Tehran on Monday, marking the first high-level visit since Iran suspended its cooperation with the agency in June, state media reported.

BAGHDAD -- A sudden failure in Iraq's power transmission lines on Monday triggered a nationwide blackout, the Electricity Ministry said.

BEIRUT -- The Israeli army is building a new military post in southern Lebanon, which could bring the total number of positions it holds in the border area to six, according to Lebanese security sources and eyewitnesses.
