KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's natural rubber production fell 11.5 percent year-on-year to 67,943 tons in the second quarter, official data showed Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the quarter-on-quarter comparison also showed that the natural rubber production declined by 28.6 percent.
As for June, the natural rubber production decreased by 14.1 percent year-on-year to 25,679 tons.
Month-on-month comparison, however, showed the production increased by 5.9 percent.
Total stocks of natural rubber in June also decreased by 11.4 percent month-on-month to 164,189 tons.
Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber amounted to 29,719 tons in June, with a decrease of 17.3 percent from May.
The export performance was contributed by natural rubber-based products such as gloves, tires, tube and rubber thread. ■
