KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- YTL AI Labs, a subsidiary of YTL Power International, has collaborated with Universiti Malaya to launch ILMU, Malaysia's first multimodal large language model.
YTL Power said in a statement on Tuesday that ILMU, short for Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu, is a multimodal AI model that can process and generate text, voice and images, and is ready to support real-world applications across sectors.
"Built by Malaysians for Malaysians, ILMU showcases our ability to create world-class AI infrastructure while preserving our linguistic and cultural identity," said Gobind Singh Deo, digital minister.
Meanwhile, YTL Power International Managing Director Yeoh Seok Hong said that with this advanced AI model, the firm aims to empower Malaysians with accessible, reliable and culturally relevant knowledge.
To catalyze adoption and innovation, YTL AI Labs also announced the ILMU AI Accelerator Programme, which is open to Malaysian startups, small and medium enterprises, and global solution providers seeking to utilize the model to build AI products and services that are rooted in local needs and ready to scale globally. ■
