ACCRA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Frank Amoakohene, Ghana's Ashanti regional minister, disclosed that the black box of the crashed military helicopter has been recovered, after all eight people on board were killed on Wednesday.
In a post on his official social media page on Thursday, Amoakohene said the device would aid authorities in investigations into the cause of the tragic disaster.
The regional minister spearheaded the search and rescue mission after the disaster on Wednesday, ensuring that the remains of the deceased were transported to the Ghanaian capital of Accra.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian government held a solemn flower-laying ceremony on late Thursday in memory of the victims.
A military helicopter crashed on Wednesday morning, killing all eight occupants, including Minister of Defense Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed. ■
