India's forex reserves fall over 9.3 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange reserves fell 9.322 billion U.S. dollars to 688.871 billion dollars during the week ending on Aug. 1, the central bank said on Friday.

This was one of the biggest falls in India's forex reserves in the recent past.

According to the data, foreign currency assets declined 7.319 billion dollars to 581.607 billion dollars, while gold reserves decreased 1.706 billion dollars to 83.998 billion dollars, and special drawing rights fell 237 million dollars to 18.572 billion dollars.

The country's reserve position in the International Monetary Fund decreased 59 million dollars to 4.694 billion dollars.
