BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.16 percent to 3,639.67 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.18 percent lower at 11,157.94 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.83 trillion yuan (about 256.5 billion U.S. dollars) -- up from 1.73 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the logistics and semi-conductor industries led the gains, while stocks related to the insurance, innovative medicine and photovoltaic sectors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.68 percent to close at 2,342.86 points on Thursday. ■
