NEW YORK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Thursday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.15 percent to 99.968 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1427 dollars from 1.1425 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3220 dollars from 1.3238 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 150.76 Japanese yen, higher than 149.35 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8122 Swiss francs from 0.8134 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3846 Canadian dollars from 1.3816 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 9.7724 Swedish kronor from 9.7837 Swedish kronor. ■
