NEW YORK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 330.30 points, or 0.74 percent, to 44,130.98. The S&P 500 sank 23.51 points, or 0.37 percent, to 6,339.39. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 7.23 points, or 0.03 percent, to 21,122.45.
Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with health and real estate leading the laggards by losing 2.79 percent and 1.73 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and utilities led the gainers by rising 2.08 percent and 0.59 percent, respectively. ■
