JAKARTA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has decreased the export benchmark price for copper concentrate for the first half of August by 0.64 percent to 4,653.74 U.S. dollars per wet metric ton, compared to that in the second half of the previous month, the Ministry of Trade announced here on Thursday.
The new policy is to take effect from Aug. 1 to Aug. 14, the ministry said in a statement.
"The export benchmark price for copper fell due to the impact of the U.S. import tariff policies, the recovery of metal trading activity on the London Metal Exchange, and an increase in global supply from major exporting countries, such as Chile," said Tommy Andana, acting director general of foreign trade at the ministry.
The acting director general added that fluctuations in metal prices on the global market also influenced the decline of the export benchmark price for copper concentrate. ■
