JAKARTA, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has allocated 47.1 billion Indonesian rupiahs (around 2.8 million U.S. dollars) to boost research and promote its sustainability through three flagship schemes in a bid to improve public welfare, according to the country's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
In a statement on Thursday, the ministry's director general for research and development, Fauzan Adziman, explained that the initiative is a follow-up to the funding for the first batch of research and community service, which is capped at 1.47 trillion rupiahs.
For the second batch, 25.7 billion rupiahs is allocated for the research program, with 110 universities submitting a total of 375 proposals.
Moreover, 17.2 billion rupiahs is allocated for 496 community service program proposals from 399 institutions and 4.2 billion rupiahs to support nine Centers of Excellence in Science and Technology. (1 Indonesian rupiah equals 0.000061 USD) ■
