BISHKEK, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The Board of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has raised its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 9.25 percent, effective from Tuesday.

Inflation in Kyrgyzstan remains within moderate limits, standing at 4.6 percent year-to-date as of July 18 and at 8.7 percent year-on-year, mainly driven by food price growth and electricity price adjustment, the bank said in a statement.

The country's economic activity remains robust, with real GDP growing by 11.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2025, thanks to expansions in services, construction and manufacturing, while domestic demand continues to expand amid rising household incomes, it added.

Yet external economic uncertainty has significantly increased due to heightened geopolitical tensions and changes in global trade policies, the bank cautioned, noting the monetary policy aims to ensure medium-term price stability within the 5 to 7 percent target range.
