ISLAMABAD, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's mobile phone imports declined over 21 percent in fiscal year 2024-25 (from July 2024 to June 2025), compared to the same period of the last fiscal year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Tuesday.
Pakistan imported mobile phones worth 1.494 billion U.S. dollars in the reporting period, compared to 1.898 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year, showing a decrease of 21.29 percent.
Economists here believed that the decrease was due to multiple factors, including the government's curb on imports of non-essential products to conserve foreign exchange reserves, and local manufacturing and assembling of mobile phones. ■
