BEIRUT, July 28 (Xinhua) -- A Hezbollah member was killed and four civilians were injured Monday in an Israeli drone strike on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Health Ministry said in a press release that the drone strike targeted "a motorcycle in (the town of) Bint Jbeil," whereas a Lebanese security source told Xinhua that the victim was "Haitham Mohammad Idris, a local of Bint Jbeil and a member of Hezbollah."

In a separate development, the Lebanese Army Command said in a statement that it arrested "three Lebanese citizens, a Syrian, and an Iraqi" for "forming a terrorist cell," and that the detainees "were referred to the competent judiciary" following investigation.

It did not say where they were arrested, nor reveal the names of the detainees.

Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France has been in effect between Hezbollah and Israel, putting an end to clashes that had erupted in the wake of the war in Gaza.

Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally carries out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are meant to eliminate "threats" posed by Hezbollah.
